Hopes, Dreams, and Reality
This week has been a whirlwind. I returned from the Congo and have been enjoying time at home with my husband and two children as we regroup from all our traveling. One thing that has been on the tip of everyone's tongue is the progress Malaika has been making. As we continue steamrolling our way to the 10 year mark, it is clear that Malaika is not just a school with 4 walls, it is a philosophy. It is the empowerment of 252 girls and through them and their education, the empowerment of an entire community. I can’t explain my amazement at the support our organization has received over the last 10 years, and it only makes me excited for what will happen in the years to come. This week CNN encapsulated all this in a segment they published on their African Voices Section. Seeing our girls smiling faces on one of the biggest news networks in the world has been undoubtedly a high point in this whole adventure. It further solidifies that everything we do, we do for them. And in this crazy life I am extremely proud to help them accomplish their goals and to seek out their own hopes and dreams.
